1 Overview & Single Purpose
Spider Web Extractor is a browser extension developed by Subhan Javed designed to allow users to visually select, extract, and export tabular data, text, hyperlinks, and media elements from webpages into structured CSV, Excel, and JSON files directly within the browser.
We believe in absolute user privacy. Our core engineering principle is 100% on-device local execution. Spider Web Extractor operates entirely within your local browser sandbox, requiring no user account, no cloud infrastructure, and zero data transmission to external servers.
2 Information Collection & Storage
Specifically:
- No Remote Transmission: The extension does not operate or communicate with any tracking servers, analytics endpoints, or remote telemetry backends.
- Local Storage Only: When you scrape data, build an automation recipe, or save a table, all records are stored solely in your browser's local sandbox using the
chrome.storage.localAPI. - No Account Required: The extension is 100% free forever and does not require registration, login, email verification, or license keys.
3 Chrome Permissions Justification
Spider Web Extractor requests only the minimal set of browser permissions strictly necessary to deliver its core scraping functionality, in full compliance with the Chrome Web Store Minimum Permissions Policy:
| Permission | Type | Plain-English Justification |
|---|---|---|
activeTab |
Required | Enables the extension to interact with the currently focused web tab when you click to pick elements or launch an extraction. |
scripting |

storage |

sidePanel |

unlimitedStorage |

downloads |

clipboardWrite |
Optional | Requested only when you click "Copy to Clipboard" to quickly copy extracted text, rows, or email addresses. |
cookies |
Optional | Requested on demand only if you configure an advanced recipe that requires passing existing session cookies for authenticated sites. |
<all_urls> |
Optional Host | Requested on demand only if you enable multi-page or multi-domain crawlers to follow pagination links across domains. |
4 Third-Party Disclosure & Selling of Data
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to third parties. We do not use third-party advertising networks, marketing pixels, or analytics trackers (such as Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel).
5 Data Retention & User Control
Because all data is stored exclusively on your device:
- You have complete control over your data at all times.
- You can delete any extracted dataset or automation recipe anytime from within the extension side panel or table viewer.
- Uninstalling the extension instantly and permanently removes all stored data from your browser storage.
6 Children's Privacy
Spider Web Extractor does not knowingly collect or solicit information from anyone under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected or transmitted, our extension fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
